     Space to Write Day

Would you benefit from some time away from domestic distractions to work on your current writing project in the company of like-minded people? We're running a relaxed and informal 'retreat' day in Sheffield where you can do just that. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided throughout the day, and we'll be on hand to encourage, support and advise where possible. For those who aren't working on a specific project but would still like to benefit from the day, we'll offer a writing prompt in the morning, and another in the afternoon, to get you started. There will be some time at the end of the day to read a small section of your work to the rest of the group, though this is purely optional.

Cost £30 (or a special 'loyalty' price of £25 for anyone who has attended or is booked onto one of our other writing workshops). Please book in advance. Cost for the day includes tea/coffee and biscuits.

With a mix of class discussion and practical writing exercises, you will learn how to start developing your initial idea into a rich and exciting piece of fiction. Suitable for beginners as well as more experienced writers.

Saturday 1 Dec 2018:                                                     £45.00
     Structuring Your Novel

"A story should have a beginning, a middle and an end, but not necessarily in that order."

In other words, there's more than one way to tell a story! Structuring your novel can be one of the biggest challenges you'll face in your writing journey. This workshop will explore the options available and help you to apply them to your own novel. We'll look at what makes a good beginning and ending, the pros and cons of prologues and epilogues, how to move around in time, how to tackle a dual narrative, and a great deal more besides. To get the best from this workshop, you will have started writing already, even if it's only a chapter or two. But if you haven't, you'll need, at least, to have a rough outline of your novel.

Cost £45. Please book in advance. Cost for the day includes tea/coffee and biscuits.
