Saturday 28 Apr 2018:                                                     £45.00
Writing Fiction: Writing People and Places
Characters are at the heart of all stories. The events, no matter how dramatic, only really become a story when they affect the characters involved. Those characters are usually people, but they may also be animals, beings from another world, or even inanimate objects. The point is, whether you're writing about a thirty-something advertising executive, a 95-year-old former soldier, or a little green man from the planet Zog, you've got to make your reader care about what happens to them.

We'll also be looking at setting, whether it's a real geographical place, an imagined landscape, or a completely different world. The setting can be a backdrop for your characters or it can be an integral part of your story.

Through a mix of class discussion and writing exercises in a friendly and supportive environment, this workshop will focus on ways of developing and portraying your characters, and of evoking the places associated with them.

Cost £45. Please book in advance.
